Hespeler, once a distinct town and now a neighborhood within Cambridge, Ontario, is nestled along the banks of the Speed River in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. In 1973, Hespeler, along with Preston, Galt, and the hamlet of Blair, merged to form the City of Cambridge. Leading the newly unified city was Claudette Millar as its first mayor.
Population specifics for the former Hespeler remain unaccounted for, as census data encompasses only the entire expanse of Cambridge. However, the combined population of census tracts that now comprise Hespeler amounted to 26,391 as of the 2016 Canada Census.
Situated in the northeastern corner of Cambridge, the Hespeler neighborhood has historically maintained an industrial presence, notably from woolen and textile mills, dating back to its earliest days.
